Scholarships
MML HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The MML High School Scholarship Program provides three scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each for high school seniors in Mississippi who plan to attend an accredited community college or university in Mississippi.
The General Scholarship is open to all high school seniors and is co-sponsored by the MML and Mississippi Power Company.
There are two Limited Scholarships. One is open to children or grandchildren of employees or elected of cials of Mississippi municipalities and to high school seniors working part-time for a member municipality of the Mississippi Municipal League and is co-sponsored by Phelps Dunbar and the MML.
A second Limited Scholarship is sponsored by the Mississippi Municipal Service Company and is open to children or grandchildren of employees or elected of cials of Mississippi municipalities that are members of the MMSC Liability Plan or the Workers Compensation Group.
Applicants may only apply for one scholarship and must submit a 2,000-word essay entitled “Why I Should Consider a Career in Municipal Government”. The winners listed below were recognized at the 2017 MML Annual Conference.

2017 MML Excellence Awards
The Mississippi Municipal League Excellence Awards program
recognizes cities and towns for meeting the challenges of municipal government through innovative problem solving, excellence in management, citizen participation and striving to provide a higher level of service.
Each year, awards are given in the areas of public safety, public works, planning and economic development and city spirit. One application is chosen as the Best Overall. Winners are chosen by a committee of judges outside of the MML and are recognized at the MML Annual Conference.
