What we have stressed from year to year is rate stability. Our consistent rate structure has allowed us to provide constant workers’ compensation coverage for our members without the worry of losing coverage or being non-renewed because of one bad claim or a bad year. In 29 years of service, no municipality has ever been refused entry or been kicked out of the Group because of their bad claims experience. The regular insurance market is not so “committed”. We have seen from time to time over the years, a member defect to the regular insurance market with the promise of lower premiums and better service only to return because those promises were never realized or the insurance carrier cancelled the coverage. Insurance carriers have come and gone over the years, but your municipal program has remained true to its roots. As noted at the beginning of this report, the Mississippi Municipal Service Company provides risk management and claims administration to the members of the Mississippi Municipal Liability Plan and Municipal
Workers’ Compensation Group. The Service Company continues to ef ciently and effectively provide the necessary and important services to our self-insured plans through exceptional claims administration services, risk management solutions, training and educational programs that can be tailored to the individual member needs, as well as, loss control and law enforcement training services. The Service Company’s only priority is to its membership and with a highly experienced claims staff, dealing exclusively with municipal and governmental risk management issues, and our members enjoy a higher level of dedicated services. This bene ts munipalities through lower premium costs, a more loss-conscious workforce, and safety polices bene cial to all citizens.
What you need to know is that the employees that make up MMSC are at your service to provide help and risk management information whenever needed.
