MML Member Services
The Mississippi Municipal League (MML), an association of municipal elected officials, provides an important link among the 288 member cities and towns in Mississippi. The League is the only organization that connects each and every municipality regardless of size or geographic location. In these increasingly challenging times, the League continually strives to better assist our members. The League represents the collective interests of cities and towns to the State Legislature, provides timely information on important municipal issues, provides training and certification programs for elected officials and provides important networking opportunities.
Services to members include:
Legislative Advocacy
The League employs a full-time professional lobbyist who works during the legislative session and throughout the year, to promote the interest and issues important to our members. The MML Legislative Committee, along with the League staff, meets with legislators to ensure that they are informed and up to date on the interests of our cities and towns. The League staff diligently monitors and tracks any and all bills of municipal concern that are introduced during each session. The MML Officers, Legislative Committee, and staff attend and participate in committee hearings on bills of municipal interest.
Research/Technical Assistance
The League’s professional staff develops, maintains and has access to a tremendous amount of research data related to municipalities and municipal government. The staff prepares briefing papers, conducts research, and responds to requests for information. Responses can be tailored to pinpoint the most accurate and relevant information on numerous topics such as taxations issues; demographic and economic development data; infrastructure needs and costs; auditing, revenue and expenditure data; long- range planning; ordinances and zoning issues; state and local laws and many other topics.
Member Website Login
The League offers current members a special login password to the MML Website. This password allows members to access additional information regarding training opportunities, upcoming events, the League membership directory as well as allowing members to share information with each other. Employment opportunities within a city can be posted on the site and cities can also advertise surplus equipment for sale. To obtain a Member Login Password click here.
Education & Training
The League has established the Mississippi Municipal League Training Academy, encompassing training for local elected officials and their employees, through the Certified Municipal Officials’ program. There are three levels of the CMO program: Basic, Advanced and Professional Development. For more information and a schedule of upcoming classes,

In addition to the CMO program, the League hosts regional trainings, annual education conferences, and other training opportunities for local officials. The League also works hard to educate our members about training opportunities available through other agencies and organizations.
The Annual Conference
The Annual Conference is the League's premier event and is held each year in Biloxi at the Mississippi Coliseum and Convention Center. The conference brings together over 3,000 mayors, board members, local municipal employees, state agency employees, appointed officials and guests. The Annual Conference allows members and other municipal officials to share experiences and discuss current local, regional, and national trends affecting municipal government in Mississippi. The conference also allows the League membership to elect a new slate of officers. For information on this year’s conference,
