The City of Okolona will be accepting applications for a Deputy Clerk/ Accounts Payable position.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direct supervision of the City Clerk
  • Assist in the production of reports, letters, and documents related to the city government.
  • Assist in the collection of fines, settlement of revenues, and related record keeping.
  • Maintain an efficient filing system for all activities engaged in by the city hall.
  • Answer phones and build good public relations in all dealings with citizens of the city.
  • Collect public utilities, taxes, privilege licenses, etc., and make daily bank deposits of received monies.
  • Perform related work as required 

Desirable Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn procedures required by federal and state law and municipal ordinances.    
  • Ability to meet the public in an efficient and positive manner
  • Ability to operate various office equipment, including, but not limited to, computers, copiers, calculators, and typewriters.
  • Ability to enter data into a computer with accuracy.
  • Ability to read and understand computer screens and written documents containing personnel, legal, and financial information.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of communications, documents, and other matters.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in a related field preferred
