POSITION SUMMARY: The City of McComb is seeking to fill the position of Chief of Police. This is a rewarding career for individuals interested in a career in public service.  The Chief of Police will perform a variety of complex, administrative, supervisory and professional work in planning, coordinating and directing the activities of the Police Department. The ideal candidate will possess police administration experience, with a strong leadership and management background, knowledge of community policing, as well as personnel and budgeting experience. The ability to communicate with the Board of Mayor and Selectmen, the City Administrator, government and civil leaders, and the media is essential.  A comprehensive benefit package is also offered which includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid vacation time and paid sick time.

 

PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) years of college with seven (7) service years and two (2) years command experience. Four (4) years of college may substitute for one (1) year of command experience, and nine (9) years of experience with five (5) years command experience may substitute for two (2) years of college. Management courses, relating to Command/Supervision is required.
