Public Works Director - Town of Taylorsville
The Town of Taylorsville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Works Director.
Responsibilities and Duties
A key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations and long-term planning of the town's Public Works Department. This position works closely with town leadership to maintain and improve essential services for the community.
The Public Works Director will:
- Supervise and coordinate a wide range of municipal services, including streets and drainage maintenance, water and sewer systems, sanitation services, and the upkeep of town property and infrastructure.
- Directing and supervising department employees
- Coordinating public works projects
- Maintaining equipment and facilities
- Responding to citizen concerns
- Assisting with infrastructure planning
- Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Reporting to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen regarding departmental operations and needs.
Education and Experience
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and experience in public works, utilities, construction, or a related field is preferred.
Skills
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are important, and prior supervisory or management experience is also preferred.
Licenses
A valid driver's license is required, and applicants must reside within a 30-mile radius of the Town of Taylorsville.
Salary & Benefits
This department head position offers a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience and requires a 40-hour work week with occasional overtime, as well as on-call availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Successful completion of a probationary period is required to attain regular employment status, after which the employee will be eligible for group medical, dental, and life insurance coverage, participation in a state retirement plan, and enrollment in a tax-deferred savings plan.
