CMO Opportunity: Public Administrators and Food Security: A Path to Healthy, Vibrant Mississippi Communities

The MS State University Extension Center invites you to join them on May 4, 2021, from 9:30am - 3:30pm for a day of learning, fellowship and service.

The session will be hosted at The Mill Conference Center in Starkville, MS.

The purpose of this event is to share best practices, opportunities and responses to barriers for public administrators' work with food security initiatives. Our event is in response to feedback from our 2020 Focus Group Report and coalition meeting dialogue from 7 Mississippi Delta Counties, which have identified public administrators as instrumental in advancing and promoting food security efforts. The interactive event will be held in-person at the Mill in Starkville, Mississippi on Tuesday, May 4thfrom 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Guests will engage in the following:

  • Identify what food insecurity is, how it presents in the community and what you can do as a public administrator to address and prevent food insecurity
  • Explore funding and resources from local, state and regional organizations
  • Receive hands-on training from a grants specialist and be invited to ask questions
  • Share with public administrators and public health workers about recent food security efforts

Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided. MSU incentive items will be available for attendees; and raffles will be drawn throughout the day. CDC guidelines concerning COVID-19 will be observed. We look forward to seeing you there.
